When teens have something to say.... we listen.
"I have a major test tomorrow.".................
"I hate school."
"I was raped."................
"My boyfriend just broke up with me."
"I missed the game winning basket.".................
"My parents fight all the time."
"My grandmother died yesterday."................
"I think I might have a drinking problem."
"I think I'm pregnant."................"No one cares!"
........"I am not going to make it through High School."........
Teen concerns and stress are growing issues with each generation that passes. Adolescent stress
without proper support, alternatives, and coping mechanisms can put individuals under severe stress and
quite possibly great risk.
Teens under severe stress, or depressed, can feel helpless, hopeless and worthless. They feel alone and
isolated. Often they believe that it does not matter if they live or die and that no one would miss
them.
The subject of a teen in distress or someone thinking about self destructive behavior can be uncomfortable.
Believing that someone may be suicidal can be frightening.
Knowlege and understanding of stress, active listening,
coping skills, and community resources are the first steps toward effective helping.
Our trained teens at The CONTACT TEEN LINE provide those things.
